Krämer APX-350 MA – A Change coming to MotoAmerica Junior Cup

This post has already been read 83 times!

Since the departure of the KTM RC Cup in 2018, MotoAmerica’s starter class has evolved into a Ninja 400 spec class, even without rules explicitly stating so. The other legal bikes, like the KTM RC390 and Yamaha R3 in the Jr. Cup class, just aren’t up to snuff to compete with the twin-cylinder Kawasaki. For six years, Kawasaki has enjoyed supremacy, and in 2024, it has dominated the entire field. But that’s all coming to an end. For the first time since 2017, the premier “kid” class in the United States will return to spec racing—on KTMs again… well, sort of.

Krämer Motorcycles, an offshoot of KTM originating in Germany, will be supplying racers with a new spec machine for the 2025 season: the Krämer APX-350 MA. This motorcycle is built around a KTM EXC 350 engine, producing 55 hp at the crank. The great thing about this powerplant is that it’s identical to the one found in KTM’s off-road machine, so there’s no worry about finding spare parts.

Krämer Motorcycles has built a strong reputation for creating exceptional track machines. Everyone who has had the opportunity to push these bikes through corners says they are the perfect race machines. Krämer Motorcycles U.S.A. is set to build on this momentum by delivering a new series of bikes that young racers will love. The chassis has undergone, and will continue to undergo, extensive testing to ensure the swingarm, suspension, and frame work in harmony with the spec Dunlop tires. According to Joe at Krämer, they’ve tested various swingarms to ensure racers can get the most out of the rear Dunlop 140 slick.

The bike comes standard with WP forks and shock, but unlike the KTM RC Cup days, where racers were limited to the stock suspension with only a few spring rate options, the 2025 rules will allow the use of any brand suspension. (Note: There will be some limits on fork cartridges.) HyperPro handles the steering damping duties, while the Brembo Stylema front caliper, paired with a Brembo master cylinder, ensures racers won’t need to make upgrades to be competitive. Completing the braking setup are floating MotoMaster rotors on both the front and rear.

The APX-350 MA is equipped with Mectronik electronics and features a sleek TFT dash that displays all the essential data. The bike is fitted with front and rear wheel speed sensors, and the dash also displays brake pressure, suspension travel, throttle position, and more. With ride-by-wire, customizable throttle maps, engine brake controls, and ignition timing for seamless up and down shifts, the bike is a significant leap forward from the current machines in the class, and a massive upgrade from the old KTM RC 390 Cup bikes.

Kramer added the awesome feature of Adjustable tail height as well as rearset angle/height.

One of the coolest features the APX-350 offers is the adjustable tail section, allowing riders to set the seat height to their preference. Krämer will also provide different foam thicknesses for added customization. To ensure riders are as comfortable as possible, the rear sets are adjustable as well. Additionally, various types of clip-ons and handlebars will be available to fine-tune the rider triangle for optimal ergonomics.

Krämer will be supplying spare packages to all competitors to ensure they won’t be left stranded without the parts they need. These spare packages will include bodywork, tail sliders, swingarm sliders, and controls. Krämer will list the different spare package options once all the details are finalized. They will also have a support truck at all MotoAmerica rounds, stocked with parts and bikes. The current price tag is set at $22,495.

WP shock is more than sufficient but Racers will be allowed to install Ohlins or Ktech shocks (those are the 2 current brands with shocks for this bike, others may follow.
